the Chinese Communist Party, which sees AI as one tech tool among the many they use to govern every aspect of the individual and collective lives

the ol' reliable "china dissing" of liberal media...i mean, that i know, deepseek is not being used basically as an excuse to fire people, financial speculation, and giving tips for suicide to impressionable youth like their western counterparts

That's basically been the whole sales pitch in the west. If the government makes decisions that affect your life that's horrible and totalitarian, but if private corps who are accountable to nobody do it, that's freedom.
