That's one of the built-in potential things that's going to happen for most everyone there that day. Eyewitness descriptions of things that happened there just days before Julian Sands went missing a few years ago were traumatic. People can underestimate extreme conditions. On the old SoCal hiking subreddit, everyone would scream at people not to go unprepared and that it's critical to have proper mountaineering training and you don't go to high elevation during Santa Ana winds.
