Honestly I kind of miss not having political understanding because now everyone seems like they’re at a 12 y/o level in my eyes and it’s so hard to not argue when they make the most absurd and nonsensical statements
I need to rein in my anger issues and stop arguing w people but it’s hard lol.
Eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge and then turning around to find that Everyone Is 12
I used to have this issue, and it helped me a lot when I read Masses, Elites, and Rebels. Having spent a lot of time thinking about it because certain relationships in my life were rapidly deteriorating, I'm way more able to have constructive conversations now because I have a much stronger belief in the need to empathize with people and understand that even among academics it's deeply questionable if they're really treating it as a properly intellectual subject versus just behaving in ways that are rewarded, that functions as a sort of personal and social survival strategy for themselves, which is something that everyone, myself included, does.

I mean theres's no point arguing with a 12 years old. You must teach them. If they don't want the teaching, nothing can be done.
