Everything in my life is either exactly the same or worse. The single thing I can point to as improving over the last decade is my personal maturity and political understanding. And that’s pretty much just a result of getting older, would’ve happened no matter what.

Anyway I’m not gonna go on a whole rant here, wondering if people feel the same, if maybe there’s something I’m missing/haven’t thought of

See this is what started me thinking about this. Maybe I’m missing something but I can’t think of anything technology wise that has greatly improved my life within the past ten years. My phone does fundamentally the same things it did ten years ago, if you gave me my phone and laptop from ten years ago I would not notice a difference. I mean I just cannot think of anything that technology allows me to do today that I was fundamentally unable to ten years ago. But maybe I’m just not noticing something

Electric bicycles got better (as did scooters). Pair with a train ride and you can have a blast in nature for little.

Lightweight tents as well.

Video quality on mainstream streaming sites. (Honorary mention: https://www.youtube.com/@TPENT/videos Tiger Pictures Entertainment, chinese movies )

3D-printing!

Concept2, famous for their indoor rowing machines, have decided to convert the company into a trust, removing it from the capitalist tendency of enshittification.

Linux and ecosystem

Ok so this is my problem I guess, none of those things really affect me. Don’t really bike or go camping, don’t use rowing machines and have never had a need for 3d printing. Video quality I suppose affects me but I never really had an issue with it before. I honestly would not have known it improved if you hadn’t told me. Linux I suppose affects me since I’d like to switch over one of these days.

Thinking about the ‘tomorrow you.’

(Admittedly you’ve asked for metrics, not points. Bear with me.)

You can't say civilization don't advance, for in every Tekken they finish you in a new way
