Some industrial is prone to create this experience. Sometimes a bit crushed bass can make one wonder if their speaker is blown.

A few times in the real world I have been listening to a song where there were sirens going off in the distance. And when I paused the music I heard, sirens going off in the distance. And I thought, "cool, they are listening to the same song.", so I turned the music back on.
