He deserves a emote even if he's a euro socdem who criticized the Soviets and China. Dude gave support to the Vietcong and Anti-Apartheid groups, and got killed for it.

Yes he did. Also the corrupt SocDem PM of italy, Bettino Craxi, used his power and money to finance and protect communists in LatAm and the Arab world, he also supported Palestinians. But at the same time he also financed Solidarity in Poland and hated the Soviets.
Supporting the Viet Cong while not supporting the USSR that actually supported them materially was definitely a choice
