I didn't expect much and was still disappointed, didn't make it past episode 4 or 5. Production value was great, everything looked good and was a reasonable representation of the setting and aesthetics of the games, but the plot and behavior of the characters was routinely just immersion-ruiningly stupid and made no goddamn sense. I understand not everyone finds that to be as much of a deal breaker though, so it's not something I'm giving anybody else shit for enjoying, but I have no reason not to expect that their contributions to the lore will also make no sense.
I won't say these kinds of characters were inevitable, but they were inevitable from a company that wants the product to appeal to the common denominator.
