it was a military dictatorship until the late 80s lol. there was martial law and curfews. it was a literal one party state. there were no debates or free exchange.
and the world-class economy was all because of the glory of capitalism and free enterprise and was not related to a) pillaged mainland gold reserves and b) investments from the american empire
