Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Edit: Giveaway over and both copies have been sent to the two winners Burntwits and Kühlschrank. Thanks for commenting and stay tuned for the next giveaway - I'll make a post in a few days probably!

Hey guys! As a little thank-you for your continued patronage, I'd like to, once again, host a little giveaway for a couple games. This'll be the first of two giveaway posts - the second one will be revealed at a later time.

I'm giving away 2x Steam copies of Death's Door! It's not exactly a soulslike, but it's definitely got some soulslike elements - be it exploration, or combat. It wasn't entirely my jam, but it's a good game, objectively speaking, and the art direction is really lovely.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/894020/Deaths_Door/

What you need to do to participate:

  • Post a comment here. It can be anything you want. Have you heard of the game? Why would you like to play it? Anything, really.

  • You need to be subscribed to the community at the time of entering the giveaway (no minimum amount of time being subscribed). You don’t need to be a Lemmy.Zip user. However, your account needs to have been created before 1st December 2025.

  • You need to have a Steam account (duh) and be fine with adding me on Steam, so I can gift the game to you. From my research, a 3-day period of us being friends is not required here. In the last giveaway I hosted here, after adding a user, I could immediately send the copy over as a gift.

The giveaway will be open from when the post is live on 8th December 2025 to 10 pm CET on 9th December.

The giveaway will be handled by Zippy Bot ie. the winners will be pulled automatically. This means that at the end of the giveaway, I will lock the thread and Zippy will pull two random entries as winners.

Good luck to anyone participating!

Small Edit: If you do not want your name to be pulled for the giveaway, please refrain from commenting. While I appreciated the nice comments I got last time praising the idea of a giveaway, it's extra work to have the users excluded from the giveaway after commenting. Thank you!

Hard to turn down a free game. As long as it runs on Linux...

The art looks really cute too. If I win I'll definitely review the game

Can't say for sure, but shouldn't Proton cover most gaming needs for Linux?

And thanks, that's awesome! It's actually something I've asked for the last time I hosted a giveaway. Sadly, none of the winners wrote a review or made any kind of post about the game they won.

All of that to say, it's not a request, but it's very much appreciated :)

Typically, yes. but it's good to know ahead of time. I wouldn't want to receive a game I can't play (although it would be pretty rare).
