Let's not let the failures of plastics distract from the reality that metals can be easily and affordably recycled (and have been since the days when every village had a blacksmith).
Paper and cardboard are also capable of being recycled in a reasonable manner using technology that has been around for over a century.
Same with glass (though shipping to a facility that does it often renders it cost prohibitive)
How do you stop microplastics entering the paper/cardboard recycling cycle? Every bit of cardboard seems to have plastic on it one way or another
The trick is to stop putting plastic on cardboard. I get plenty of packages that have some kind of papery tape on them instead.
Ah yes so industry has to change, so no solution to microplastics anytime soon
The quickest way to change industry is through policy. We have some influence on that, at least.
