Is there a subscription fee for sailfish OS involved?

[โ€“] Kjell@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

On the website they say it is voluntary.

We have opened the Sailfish OS voluntary subscription as a way for anyone interested to support Sailfish OS development and the activities around it. Your support directly contributes to the long-term viability and existence of this unique European project. Together we can keep the platform open, independent and continuously improving.

Can you still update your firmware even if you're not subscribed? I was under the impression updates were restricted to subscriptions, but found nothing of the sort mentioned in their site.

They are not.
