I occasionally see comments to the effect of, "Oh, really? Can you tell me more about that?"

Fuck. Am I a bot?

[–] VonReposti@feddit.dk 36 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh, really? Can you tell me more about that?

I've got news for you, mate. You might be a bot. Have you visited your neighbourhood robotologist to get a diagnosis?

And maybe consider a robotomy.

I saw a pretty good short sci-fi film a year or so ago about a woman accidentally finding out that she's a bot.

[–] Mozingo@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Bro you can't just say that and not mention the name. What was it?

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Different book, but try We are legion (we are Bob)

[–] matsdis@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's a good book, not terribly deep but very much fun to read. I'm sure bots thinking they are human has been done several times. First show that comes to mind is Westworld, which is kind of centered around that idea.

Only the more recent TV show. The original westworld film was more like Terminator.

I would pick blade runner as the classic bot / human confusion.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Bob only thinks hes human for about half a page?

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would argue he humanity lasts much longer, only losing it after a lot of generational drift.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm not denying that, but the comment above is talking about a story about a woman discovering she's a bot,.

As does Bob. I'm not sure what the specific point you are trying to make here. Do you want longer before the twist is revealed? Because this conversation already let that cat out of the bag.

I wish I could remember. It was definitely on YT. I think it was in German with subtitles. It wasn't long. Possibly was someone's film school project.

I wasn't sure if 2049 had a girl in it.

[–] Mozingo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Awesome! Thank you!
