My K-12 education was okay (with college certainly being better), but either way information like this was sadly neglected IME. That, and basic facts about how capitalism really works, and the fact that the States have been on vastly shakier ground since day one than the body of Americans remotely realise.
So, kinda fun to learn about this stuff the more I read and think, but also kind of infuriating that it took this much extra effort & awareness. :S
If someone told me there are middle eastern communist women-militias I would not have argued about US army being "biologically too brutal for women" in my highschool days.
