So, I keep mentioning just Russia and Ukraine, no one else, but you keep throwing in other examples. Ummm, you're saying DDay was the same as Russia invading Ukraine? Seems France wasn't operating at that time as an autonomous power. Seems they were in fact occupied at that time by another country... now if Poland had invaded Ukraine and Ukraine needed saving from them, you might have a point and Russia might be seen as a rescuing force, but that's not what happened is it?
