Fediverse vs Disinformation
Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.
Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.
What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.
By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Yes.
Also yes.
Both have dictators, as is evident by their absolute or near-absolute hold on political power.
One has mock elections, the other has one party. Neither are a democracy, fairing even worse than a representative "democracy".
Fuck no. You can hold others to account while also holding yourself. We are capable of working on multiple things at once, we don't have to solve poverty before we can tackle the climate and so on and so forth.
You can deny the genocide all you want, but it is ongoing in Xinjiang and will be fully realised in Ukraine if Russia's territorial annexation is completed.
Hey, I'm back in Urumqi right now, still no genocide.
Do you also think Portland is a warzone?
I love how so many different independent organizations have verified what's happening to the uyghurs, and you're like "I'm a German in Berlin, 1939, and I can't see anything bad happening to the Jews!"
You do understand that the Nazi camps weren't exactly advertised to the people, just like China doesn't really advertise the uyghur detention centers?
You haven't seen the photos? The videos?
Or are you one of those "any evidence against my religious beliefs is forged!" types?
I've seen satellite photos of random warehouse they found on Google maps, circled in red that people who have never been here insist are concentration camps. That is the level of "evidence" we are dealing with here.
If you were an american who spent months in the places Jewish people lived in 1939, befriended, drank with them, went skiing, etc, you'd certainly learn about their struggles.
