Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

Feel like I could write about "why I left the left" but instead of me describing my transition to some conservative grifting scheme, it's actually just me reflecting on how unserious even the boldest of "Marxists" are.
I continued to be shocked by the amount of racism and ableism on this site, and...

The fact that this website recently had a post that was basically sexualizing minors and got around 30 upbears and not a single critical comment before it got removed speaks volumes, too (and I genuinely wonder how long it would've stood if I didn't report)My principles and analysis of the world will remain fundamentally leftist, but leftism is just a tool in my toolbox. I feel no connection to the left as a "group" anymore. It has gotten way too unserious. Even this site, which many would consider "significantly better" than your average leftist space, has nothing truly redeemable about it. I hate to sound like a doomer, but leftism will continue to feel like a therapy group for individual catharsis and vibes rather than a legitimate basis for revolutionary tendencies.
I seriously hope this interview tomorrow goes wonderfully because, once I am in a position to no longer need financial assistance, I will certainly leave this site because it is not good for my wellbeing. I still want to assist others on mutual_aid, though, so I may keep some alt for that purpose alone.
There is only one group I actively feel proud to associate with, and that is Africans and the diaspora.

Well, I bid thee well, despite being better than 90% of other sites, still an online site like this has some brainworms to deal with, and sometimes you need a rest from the shenanigans.
Better than 90% of other sites yet somehow still qualifies as being equivalent to a really chunky turd on a piece of 1-ply toilet paper. That says a lot. I'd quite literally would rather exist in a room of Black conservatives than a room with the majority-white leftist userbase of this site. In fact, I've already had to go through that shit with the Black conservatives, and as unpleasant as it was, at the very least, they still treated me as a whole-ass person.
