SSU Sea Baby maritime drones struck two sanctioned tankers of the Russian shadow fleet, KAIRO and VIRAT, in the Black Sea.

This was a joint operation of the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SSU and the Ukrainian Navy.

During the attack, the sanctioned vessels were empty β€” they were heading to load in the port of Novorossiysk.

I hope they are targeting empty tankers, and not ones full of crude oil.

They were returning under ballast, so not full of oil.

They're empty. You can tell by how high they are in the water. That doesn't mean that there isn't an environmental impact. An empty tanker still has a lot of crude oil contamination and marine fuel (which is nasty nasty stuff).
