"Nice" is the default. Its perfectly acceptable, but don't expect any particular thanks or compliments for it..
“Nice” is 100% worthy of thanks. Stop trying to push the narrative that being nice isn’t good enough. For fuck’s sake!! People have enough guilt and self-esteem issues without having to be ridiculed and less-than just because nice was all they have in the tank.

I... Didn't say that? I said it was the default. Just like you shouldn't expect applause for hitting the baseline of human interaction, you also shouldn't be ridiculed.
