The commercials are meant to speak "directly to ICE agents who may be grappling with guilt, burnout, or moral conflict over their work" – providing a counterpoint to ICE recruitment commercials and to commercials where Noem advises migrants to self-deport.

From what I've seen, a lot of ICE agents are being malicious because they've convinced themselves that the people they're hurting are deserving of it somehow. They really think that they're the "good guys". Others crave the ability to power trip and bully people.

I'm not sure that trying to make most of them feel shame for what they do will work.

I might be wrong though. People's morality can be heavily influenced by their perception of their social circle's judgment of their actions. Letting them get a peek outside of their echo chamber might actually have an effect.

We've tried nothing, and we're all out ideas!

Trying to appeal to the empathy, ethics, and morality of fascists who posses none of those traits is certainly... a choice.

If it works on even a few it’s worth it.

We are at the point, I think, and have been for entirely too long, where it’s appropriate to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.

That’s not to say we should be limited to stuff like this, just that there’s no reason not to include stuff like this.

This! I'm so sick of people on here that just shoot everything down as ineffective.

"That won't work." "That's pointless." "Why bother?"

Then STFU, get out of your armchair, and do something that you think will work, asshat!

Pretty sure most of them are the same people behind those foreign accounts outed on Xitter that are just here to demoralize us.

It's a good choice, because it shows that those qualities exist.

The group has been suffering from low morale for months. They thought they'd be taking on all these vicious criminals, as the propaganda told them, but have been mostly arresting gardeners and construction workers... And the whole country just hates them.

Yeah, a lot of the guys who leave or take interviews have mentioned "we thought we'd be taking out criminals, not people who look like my grandma."

I definitely think the commercial could be different. Pretty sure their hypothetical daughter answer is easy "Good, I was saving America sweetie"
