MODERATORS

Edit: I have been notified that the moderator in question is apparently being targeted by a doxxing and harassment campaign (directed at him and his family). I don't think it needs to be said, but: do not participate in this. It is pointless, unproductive, and wrong.

I didn't go looking for a reason to create this post (just to make that clear) and the point isn't to stir drama. I just happened to run across it while browsing (explained below).

I also want to emphasize that since _cryptagion seems to thrive on attention, no matter how negative, this post is not about him. It's about db0 (the admin who defended him) and the fact that he is still a mod on dbzer0. If he gets a little thrill because people are talking about him online, I would encourage him to either re-evaluate whatever aspect of his personality leads him to enjoy the attention he gets for saying genocidal fascistic things, or drop the pretense and just get a hakenkreuz tattoo, since that would get plenty of attention.

The original incident (1 month ago). You may recall the recent incident in which a dbzer0 moderator (_cryptagion) said that all 27 million Soviet citizens killed by the nazis deserved it. Here is a post discussing it and here is a follow-up post discussing his smug non-apology.

Also discussed in the linked follow-up is the fact that db0, the admin of the instance, repeatedly accused us of lying and spreading disinformation to malign the moderator in question. This is a lie (or an incredible level of gullibility combined with not actually reading any of the threads _cryptagion posted in), which was obvious at the time but will become much more obvious by the end of this post.

The moderator claimed that he thought 27 million was the number of soldiers who were killed (which would still make him a nazi supporter). This is the core (as far as I can tell) of the disinfo argument, even though the moderator only claimed that after the backlash and in his original statements doubled down many times when people tried to explain to him that what he was saying was terrible.

The reason I am bringing this up again now.I was just now browsing old /c/slop posts (probably a harmful hobby, but I was bored) and I came across this one. This is a thread discussing how, 10 months ago (9 months prior to the incident discussed above), the same moderator did the exact same thing. Here is at least one comment at the time replying directly to _cryptagion and explaining plainly that the 27 million number included many civilians. I cannot explain this other than _cryptagion being a crypto-fascist intentionally pushing nazi support, or _cryptagion being a crypto-fascist unintentionally pushing nazi support because he has built his entire personality around hating the USSR (this isn't actually any different from being an intentional crypto-fascist in practice). db0 (the admin) would have been aware of this because he was tagged in the thread and replied.

db0 (the admin) claimed to believe _cryptagion (the moderator/user) when he claimed that he thought 27 million was the number of soldiers killed (reminder: that would still make him a nazi supporter). db0 either lied about people criticizing _cryptagion, or believed _cryptagion lying (poorly) to them. Therefore, I don't see what other conclusion can be drawn than "db0 is either incredibly gullible and has been led by the nose by a crypto-fascist", or "db0 is a bad-faith fascist apologist". I personally think it's the first - blindly picking a "side" here with a friend, but the friend is saying that Soviet soldiers should have surrendered to the nazis.

Note that I am not proposing de-federation. Almost every dbzer0 user I see here is acting in good faith. I'm posting this because I'm hoping it shakes out some kind of better explanation, or leads to something being done about thinly-veiled nazi apologia being apparently allowable (or at least not punished) on dbzer0.
