Later, another reporter pressed Mamdani to clarify his response to the question. “Are you affirming that you think that President Trump is a fascist?”

“I’ve spoken about—” Mamdani began to reply, before Trump interrupted him.

“That’s OK, you can just say yes. It’s easier than explaining it. I don’t mind,” Trump said, patting Mamdani on the arm.

“Ok, alright,” said a smiling Mamdani.

Trump literally doesn't know what a fascist is. He might be okay with it if he did know. He just knows it's not a great thing to be. He's an old man with the brain no more knowledgeable than an 8 year old kid who was being charmed by Mamdani. This narcissistic idiot doesn't understand things. It's so fucking hard to fathom that and we all keep treating him like he's people.

I don't think it's even that. I think the real thing is that it comes down to kayfabe basically. He's a TV guy, he's no stranger to getting a little catty on camera to boost ratings. I think Mamdani basically convinced him that yeah they might end up fighting publicly sometimes because of their positions, but at the end of the day Mamdani wants to deliver for New Yorkers and if they can do that together he's not above giving Trump his flowers too. I think that's the same reason Trump seems to like Bernie. Yeah they fight in public sometimes, but when Trump is offering something good Bernie is on board. He's not just against Trump because he's Trump.

Nah it it was just the dementia I feel like he'd have started like trying to make it look more like Mamdani bent the knee once his advisors got back in his ear.

There's different kinds of smart. Trump is a very talented conman. That's a skill, it it takes a brain, it's just a different type of brain than a historian and has to come packaged with narcissism and a total lack of morals.
