the steam machines were shitty collaborations with third party sellers to ship small pre built PCs with an undercooked steam OS without any compatibility layer which meant devs had to port their games to linux and no one did so it flopped. the GabeCube is gonna be first party finely tuned hardware running 2025 SteamOS which basically runs any game under the sun (besides the anti cheat issue).
the flopping depends entirely on the price, especially since USians are suffering right now and probably don't have money to spend on stuff like this. it could be a great product but chip prices and trade wars could easily kill it.
