Just a point of order:

The terms First, Second and Third World were cold war references to the power blocs (Allies, Soviets, unaligned).

If you mean to say backsliding in terms of development, say that.

Third world is an inaccurate description for 'undeveloped' countries.

That's the thing with language it evolves to mean other things. Everyone equates "3rd world l" to mean poorly developed /or dirty/ or destitute, now.

Like the UK uses hoovering to mean vacuuming, because Hoover was the go to brand in them old days.

Just let people use words how they want LOL
