My wife and I have traded being the bread winner back and forth over the years. We always called the one not making any money at the time the "bread loser"

This has given me a hilarious mental image. For whatever reason, you and your wife are discussing who should be the one to take on more hours at work. The choice shall be defined by something akin to gladiatorial combat. On a pedestal above you is a fancy loaf of bread. When the battle finishes, the winner cheers and holds the bread over their head like a wrestling championship belt
