I haven't had much time for video games, but I have managed to play a little more Yakuza 0. Still laughing at the complete tonal whiplash between the wholesome/comedic tone of most of the sidequests compared to the gritty seriousness of the main story so far. I kind of dig it.
That game is great, an absolute masterpiece of both comedy and genuine dramatic storytelling.
Yeah! I'm glad you're enjoying Y0. You've identified what makes Yakuza so interesting; it's the dichotomy began a gritty, serious crime drama and wild, unhinged side quests and characters. I don't know how the full series plays out, but Kiryu is a great example of a non-toxic male character.
