Community for CRPG games and other RPG gaming discussions. Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Baldurs Gate as well as indie RPGs (Underrail, Avernum, Space Wreck etc.). Focus is on CRPGs, but discussion around JPRGs, ARPGs and hybrid games with RPG components is also welcome.

Tabletop/pen & paper RPG discussion is not a good fit for this community. Check out !rpg@ttrpg.network for TT/P&P RPG discussions.

Memes are not banned, but the overwhelming focus is on discussions, releases and articles. Try and post memes (on an occasional basis) that would make people who don't like memes admit "OK! That was a good one!".

The difficulty is what has kept me off it, I think. It's been on my radar for a while and I do love Fallout 1&2, but I'm wary of getting frustrated and stuck in games nowadays.

I would get a build guide (not a walkthrough), the game will still be challenging but you'll feel like you have the tools to counter your enemies.

Don't want to reveal any spoilers, but it might be worth consulting a walkthrough in the last 20% of the game, not for step by step instructions, but some key choices that IMO make or break the final mission/area.

See, that's good advice and I'll remember it if I ever play it but still kind of speaks of the sort of design I'm a bit wary of these days.

Though I guess I would probably say the same about FO 1/2 also if I didn't already know them...

If you like FO 1/2, I would just dive in.

In a sense, I am envious that you have never played UnderRail and it will be a first time experience for you.

I was in a similar position, I love FO 1/2, I had heard about UnderRail for years, but never made the move. When I tried, I couldn't stop till I reached the end. It's not without its flaws, but it has a great tactical combat system and an in-depth sense of place.

If you're capable for playing FO 1/2, you'll manage. Especially if you pick a build guide.

I'll keep it in mind and put it on my wishlist. I have a lot of games to get through, but I'll try to give it a shot before the sequel comes out.
