Sorry, this is pretty rambling. I didn't mean to reply at all, but I saw you trying to be nice to someone else on this post, so I figured I do owe you that even if I am struggling with it.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I made a post myself a few months back about how I generally prefer solitary activities and it annoyed me when people used leftist language to treat it as some kind of moral failing. The closest thing I’ve come (that I can recall) to doing what you’re referring to is pointing out the irony of non-vegans saying they like animals more than they like people yet being willing to support the slaughter industry.

I don't remember the exact post either, I'm sorry. I believe it was something similar to this where you mentioned how awful misanthropes were and then characterized them as horrible reddit fascists. I'm sorry I don't actually remember the exact post. It was at least more than a year ago, I didn't comment on it back then and just left the site for a while. I'm vegan too, yeah I don't have the terrible emotional reaction with animals than with people but I wouldn't put the life of a non-human animal over anyone except the most awful people. I'm actually sorry for singling you out here.

As you correctly point out, that vegan example is ironic and most of those people seem to just call themselves misanthropes because it sounds cooler than antisocial asshole. That doesn't mean everyone who has problems with people is like that.

It just seemed like you thought of people like me as an acceptable target to which there is no reason to extend any dignity to. I've felt a lot of times that supposed leftists that on the surface say they value people who are different very quickly change their mind when the way you are doesn't quite fit their particular view of the world. There are multiple comments on this post where people also seemed to identify with what you said in the OP, so I'm not the only one. Then in further comments you suddenly said everyone like that was a fascist so you only meant those anyway. It's pretty fucking rough to see something like that voted up.

There's been an anti-natalist struggle session before where for some reason some users felt the need to dunk on people who just expressed they thought life sucked and they don't want to have children because of that by calling them fascists and wanting to genocide people. Yeah, I know anti-natalism is linked to fascist shit, that doesn't mean you should hound the people who already have a horrible life or are just hopeless? Clearly hexbear has come to that conclusion since then, you see a lot of people straight up expressing thoughts like that and no one has a problem with it anymore, so that's good. Well, it's not good since it means people are probably getting more hopeless, but you know.

You're right, I did see the most uncharitable interpretation of it. I assumed you were vague on purpose in the OP and the (for me) far worse part by far was when people tried to kind of push back against that vagueness in the replies you instead just said that misanthropes are right-wing fascists. After people here explicitly tried to say they view themselves like that. That's the reason why I viewed things like that. If that really wasn't your intention then I apologize for some of the shit I said.

It's been a rough time in real life and I struggle to express myself in the best circumstances. I just hoped this place could be alright to get my mind off those things since there aren't a lot of places online that at least try to do what hexbear tries to do. But it's clearly not for me.
