DN is great for USA news but you can’t trust anything they say for international stuff (with the singular exception of Palestine). They very much tow the state department line for “bad countries”
Came here to say this. Democracy Now gets so much right but then veers off hard into liberal boomer territory when it comes to most foreign policy and AES, and sometimes just seemingly at random. (Like my 70 year old progressive neighbors with a pride flag hanging next to a Ukraine flag on their front porch). They can actually be ok at times even for some AES stuff like support for Cuba but just generally can't be trusted unfortunately.
Like most, I used to watch DN! regularly when I started my Leftist journey, they are great when it comes to the Americas, but once they start reporting across the ocean, they turn into State Department mouth pieces. This was most obvious during the Libya situation leading up to the NATO bombing and assassination of Qaddafi. They had on as their regular guest, Juan Cole cheer leading for the "Moderate" rebels. He was orgasmic when Qaddafi was killed. DN! did the same playbook for Syria. Amy Goodman never met a Colour Revolution she didn't fall in love with, always bringing on Liberal guests to make their case for regime change. Turned off DN! forever.
