The earth is going to be irreparably damaged, and morons will still do nothing.
No, the earth will recover as it always does from extinction events. Life will adapt and evolve to fill the empty environmental niches left empty by those species that did not/could not adapt to a warming climate.
What I suspect will be irreparably damaged is modern human civilisation.
