The criticism "woke", "politically correct", and "bleeding heart" all mean essentially the same thing. That liberals only pretend to care about movements of emancipation to cynically gain political support. And the reason that criticism has lasted so long is because it's apt.
Yeah, they rebranded “politically correct” to “woke” because the dumbass hillbilly rednecks that make up their voter base can’t remember anything longer than one syllable.
All that “politically correct” or “woke” or “liberal”, for that matter, means these days is “I’m mad I can’t be racist or an asshole to people I don’t like in public.”
It’s a blatantly obvious codeword or trigger that people can use in public while hiding their ignorance and racism behind a thin veneer. Bonus is they get to laugh about it with their equally idiot friends and pretend that no one else understands what’s going on. It’s the rallying cry of the “I’m a dumbass, uneducated, moron club”.
Bleeding heart just means that they're too caring. As in, the type to give handouts and hug trees. But I haven't heard that in forever. I think it's been switched out for socialists.
Not sure if I agree on the other two. They are definitely coopted for political gain. But I don't know that it changes the base term. When they say "woke mob", I don't hear an implication that it's disingenuous.
Virtue signaling definitely applies though.
I do find it ironic that liberals (people who just want to live their lives and not impede on others, not the politicians) give the least amount of fucks. They don't give a fuck if gays marry, but they also don't give a fuck if they're not allowed to (assuming it doesn't impact them).
