That kid 100% believes in the protest and is lying because he knows his mom will go off the rails if he’s honest.
Big respect to them for seeing the truth of things, and not losing their morality, when getting raised in such an obviously hostile and hateful environment.
It's why so many parents want to have home schooling. Some have legitimate complaints about the failings of the public school system, but from what I can tell most in the US just wasn't to be able to brain wash their kids better without outside stimuli messing it up.
This was my thought as well
