Fediverse vs Disinformation

1712 readers
228 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Reminder that the US gives Israel more than $10 million dollars every day. So if you're in the US and wonder why you can't afford healthcare or education...it's because @dongzilla42069 posted that there is no genocide.

Deleted account? I noticed they stop using them and spin up new ones if they get called out a few times.

No, I just picked a name of the kind of twitter troll I thought would take the money for the grift. But yeah, you're right about them popping up new accounts so it's like a game of wack-a-~~mole~~troll
