I told my lib colleague, who criticizes the lack of free speech in non-Western countries, that we don't have free speech either; ABC (as far as I'm aware) weren't legally obligated to fire him, he simply said something that in the current climate he's unofficially not allowed to. He'll blame Trump of course, but ABC wasn't under legal obligation to fire him, they simply decided any criticism of Charlie Kirk is one of the things you're now not allowed to do.
I've pointed out to the guy in the past that there are certain things you're legally allowed to say about other heads of state, that while legally you can about our own you'll absolutely be fired for; he refused to believe it (I did say he was a lib).
Every time I tell him something, our government (whether blue Hitler or red Hitler), media and corporations always backs me up with their actions and proving me right; I'm not just eating well tonight, I eat well most nights.
Furthermore Kimmel didn't even criticize Kirk. He just said republicans are taking advantage of his death, which is true. And ABC got scared because the chair of the FCC threatened to revoked their TV license. Freedom of speech
