apologies only make a bully more aggressive
This is what’s baffling about watching all this happen, like this is a really basic concept that most adults know. You should understand that this will not save you and will only encourage them.
And its not even the first time they've done this with Trump. Libs tripped over themselves to express how horrified they were of the assassination attempt on Trump only for Trump to shit on them like always. But its just libs being libs. They're quick to shed tears for fascists, not so much for the oppressed.
It’s lawyers and actuaries. They don’t understand this about bullies, they can only think in terms of probabilities and legal liability.
I genuinely don't understand it and can only surmise that these were the spineless kids who never once stood up for themselves, telling themselves that they just had to keep their heads down and do the homework, and in the adult world it would be different (the adult world is not different)
He didn't really apologize fwiw, I don't know why the tweet says he did. He said something along the lines of "I can't believe people thought I was mocking the murder of a father and a husband". Which is consistent with his original comment because he did, in fact, not make fun of Kirk in any way, he was attacking Trump and the Republicans and he continued to do so in this monologue.
So he didn't "budge" but only because his original stance wasn't that cool to begin with. He's a lib who hates Trump but loves civility politics.
Thanks for this, I watched the monologue and definitely didn't see any apology or any backtracking. I believe public facing people who do a lot of political stuff who expressed shock and outrage that Kirk was shot. Like, I really have a hard time feeling that, because of who he was and what he built and what he was pursuing. But I can definitely understand people being anti Kirk AND anti murder.
