64? I only did that for the OG NES.

Same, except for the Genesis as well. The N64 was extremely reliable. Games always booted on the first attempt and never crashed.

Yeah same but we were hooked on some crap. Breathing heavily on the cartridges does what: introduces moisture. Maybe we were destroying our games in the long term. We did feel like we got immediate results.

The NES was the only one that had defective connector design because of the side loading mechanism of the US console.

Top loading consoles NEVER needed that. I played hundreds of games across multiple top-loading consoles and never once had one not start up IMMEDIATELY the first time.

Anybody who was blowing in their SNES/N64 cartridges was insane.

I mean, it didn't help, but at least there was an impetus to be doing it. Something wasn't working.

It helped in the sense that it got us to remove and reinsert the cartridge. However I blew into my cartridges up to N64 and would even smack them against my palm.
