Just saw this
I was the one that banned the offending accounts to be exact 4 of them:
I don't believe this at all based on your actions.
While Lemmy.ca and Piefed.ca doesn't have any explicitly specified rules stated about vote manipulation, everyone here on the Fediverse has already implicitly agreed that vote manipulation is a violation against the principles of trust. In plain English it's just scummy and gross. Reddit is shit but even us who migrated from there already know that this kind of behavior is highly inadvisable/digusting to say the least.
Once or twice (potentially depending on circumstances) could be waved as an accident. As exhibited by the screenshot provided above, logging into 4 different accounts to upvote the same post accidentally I don't believe for a goddamn second.
Also going back to this, this is a terrible reason/justification. Myself and fellow Fediusers that I interact with know that some assholes will downvote in bad faith but that doesn't give us nor anyone else the justification to create accounts to upvote ourselves or each other. This just create a positive feedback loop for all the wrong reasons creating what is commonly known as an echo chamber. There also exists parallels to "Yes Men" situations/systems.
Look if it's a bad idea to do as a mod/admin then it's probably also bad to allow anyone else to do this.
I 1000% understand just how upsetting and frustrating it can be to see things downvoted. But this is not the right way to correct/improve things here in the Fediverse.
Currently based on your actions; I see little to no reason to believe that you would interact (voting, commenting, posting) on our instances/services or with our users in good faith.
To discourage vote manipulation, personally I believe the bans should work/remain in place as the clear consequences for having done so. The other Lemmy.ca/Piefed.ca admins are free to disagree. @mp3@piefed.ca @otter@piefed.ca @Shadow@piefed.ca @smorks@piefed.ca @TruckBC@lemmy.ca
For anyone reading if you don't vote manip then thank you🌻. You are the role models we need🫡.
Thanks for responding,
That's not what I was saying at all, I did vote intentionally with the alts on 2 posts, but I could have done it once or twice without realising it.
Those 2 were the only posts I have (intentionally) done anything deceptive with and I have removed the offending votes.
