Robert's Rules are a fantastic tool used by bureaucrats to stymie any kind of discussion they don't like. If you've ever attended a union meeting or the like where it's being used - at least for me, it makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

Yes, this is why I hate them. It’s a tool used to get people to shut the fuck up who disagree with the leaders of the meeting or annoying rules nerds who love nothing more than to harangue ppl about whether the chicken or the egg came first.
