Yes, but it is also true that the German Fascists made exceptions for men deemed too useful to dispose, such as Artur Adolf Konradi (who was paralysed from the waist below), Max Hahn (who lost one of his arms in WWI) and Joseph Goebbels (whose osteomyelitis crippled one of his feet).
