If we let Russia swallow Ukraine, then the precedence has been set for Russia doing it to the next neighbour, and the next, and the next. Not to mention that Russia has already been waging semi-open warfare against the West for decades, undermining governments, performing sabotage, terrorism and whatever they can get away with.
