The whatever kind of drama afterwards didn't help as well. Not everything is misogynistic just because a woman leads a clusterfuck. Maybe it tanked because it was a clusterfuck, not because all men bad.

Star Wars had the same problem.

Undoubtedly there was some mysogyny behind some of the criticism, but ultimately they just weren't good movies.
