Much like hacking websites (y'know, those virtual machines that are made to be vulnerable for learning cybersecurity or whatever) or exploiting glitches in single player games, (like MissingNo. or Glitch Cities in Pokémon Red) I imagine some people cheat in these games for the thrill of figuring out how and successfully breaking the sandbox. Of course some people just download cheats to make themselves more effective in the game, and that's kinda lame to me, but whatever.
