Hi all the family and I are going to be going on a road trip and renting a Tesla Model Y. We’re going to be going from Salt Lake City to Anaheim/Disneyland and just wanted to reach out and see if you have any tips for first time EV drivers.

I've gone cross country in my Y 2x, plus many long distance trips from LA to Colorado and Washington. You will be totally fine going between SLC. Your biggest annoyance may be in and around vegas where there may be a line or the superchargers will be slow. This will probably be the case for superchargers in LA. I rarely use them here since I change at work or home.

You can always double check teslas directions with an app called ABRP, (A Better Route Planner).

The biggest change for you will probably be all controls are on The center screen, let your passenger deal with that stuff while your driving.

Have fun. Dont keep anything in your car here, but LA is awesome.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m from the LA area so I know how it is about keeping stuff in your car.
