just to add, even if an area was historically part of the kingdom you claim. it means ziltch.

Does Italy has a claim over Spain because the Romans? does Norway get to claim Greenland?

if Catalunya becomes independent, does it get Aragon and Italy?

it's a nonsensical concept. like saying you're the legal owner of every apartment you've ever rented
