for actual criticism of the show, a lot of it is filmed in new zealand and has a lot of maori actors as extras/secondary characters rather than hawaiians, and the creator is Mormon
Try to find a Hawaiian who's spent enough time in the Southwest to break into Hollywood and isn't Mormon and you'll start to understand the producers' struggle.
Salt Lake City is called the "easternmost Island" for a reason
