I don’t understand the problem here. I don’t really cook, but I bet this adds a really nice texture and creates a really homogeneous soup.
If you want a homogenous soup use
And what if you dont want a homogenous soup, but one with nice big chunks of potatoe, carrots or whatever?
Look I have the diet of a picky 10-year-old. No 3D vegetable is allowed in my soup.
Listen maybe some people can’t afford both kitchen appliances. Obviously you’re gonna lick the one you make make whipped cream with. Obviously.

In all seriousness, and again I don’t really cook, but I do fuck with a good immersion blender. Definitely the right tool for soup
