Ugh. This whole Western liberal conflating modern Russia with the Soviet Union thing... Ugh. Drives me up the wall.
I miss the Soviet Union too, stop making me cry about it, you washed up Cold Warriors who can't move on.
I think the worst part is how it leads to conflating the USSR with the Russian Empire, and divorces Soviet restorationism from communist ideology. I like Soviet imagery and Cold War nostalgia bait because of communism, not in spite of it!
