Temp fillings over root canal therapies generally have another layer underneath that's actually sealing off the root canal filling. You're doing the right things.

i know that you haven't a clue technically, but on assumption alone do you reckon it should be fine for now?

You're fine, you should be calling the dentist for a quick consult on the situation. Not worth panicking over. The root canals are done, your teeth should be extremely clean for that reason. Fillings usually prevent decay to the dentin over a proportionately huge amount of time.

sorry if I seemed panicky, it's just I've been looking like a meth mouth for years and I'd hate for this process to go wrong this far in... my dentist doesn't appear to have an off hours line, so I'm just waiting for tomorrow. if the filling already fell out after less than 2 days I'm just a tad worried about having it stay in for 2 weeks after it's filled again
