MODERATORS

Hello folks,

This is my first post here. I was just wondering what kind of online services you would be interested in seeing a Canadian alternative for?

Thanks

Small farms.

Nova Scotia as an example. We do not have large farms like central and western Canada. Most are small family run operations. For the past 8 years Nova Scotia farms have been in the red. They're closing at unprecedented rates and locally grown food is becoming harder and harder to find. An entire province that may soon not have any ability to produce food.

No farms. No food.

Not online services but I agree…

Definitely need more small farms everywhere. Food wise here in Alberta we have a good selection I find. Greenhouse grown produce, field grown veg, lots of beef, pork and poultry too. But we need more of these producers.

I find we do not have enough fruit (we need orchards!) though.

I would also like to see more dairies and especially yogurt and cheese makers. Cheese is really not a big deal. I know small cheese makers in Europe that employ 3-5 people and crank out 2 dozen different cheeses year round.

Ok. Local Advertising and selling platforms that are competitively priced for local farms to sell their goods and gain customers without the expenses of travel and market fees.
