Boycotts can work for products where an alternative exists. That doesn't apply to videogames unfortunately, there's an alternative to your coffee brand, there is not an alternative to a specific franchise of a videogame. There might be genre alternatives but it's not the same thing.
The only videogame boycotting tactic that works is encouraging piracy, so people can still play the game but not contribute to the bad thing. Doesn't work with the subject matter of this though because it's about saving the lives of primarily online-only and liveservice games that disappear when no longer supported. These games don't have a piracy option to encourage boycott through that method.
So boycott tactics really do not apply here.
