Why?

  1. we blow up tons of shit anyway

  2. we need to show fascists they don't own the monopoly on violence

  3. Look up operation blazing sword- LGBTQ and BIPOC folks need to arm themselves these days. It doesn't necessarily mean owning a firearm in your home, but having knowledge of firearms and a local place to organize your community to defend against y'all-qaeda sounds like an okay idea nowadays

  4. I fired a pistol for the first time two days ago and honestly it was fun

Also check your states laws for firearm ownership. I was diagnosed bipolar after being involuntarily hospitalized in 2015 in Spokane- according to Washington State law, I have a lifetime ban on owning a firearm, however I moved to Chicago where the ban is only 5 years long.

Many of us are disabled in some way, so the state may disenfranchise us for better or for worse, but I think it's important we can defend ourselves.

It's sad- 10 years ago I'd be fine with a firearm ban, but the world changed. Its time we focus on community safety, and especially for us who don't wear red hats.

wait, you have a lifetime ban for firearms because of bipolar, but in Chicago Bipolar diagnosis only gives you 5 year ban? do they expect people to be cured of it in 5 years?

slight asside, I needed to be hospitalised a couple times, and I probably should have, hope you're ok. life is hard

If you have bipolar, but you haven't been hospitalized in 5 years for a serious episode, you probably have it managed pretty well.

You at least have it managed as well as a normal person has of their brain. Which, as we know, ain't that good.
